Fox News reports that McCain campaign says Palin is a joke and totally unqualified to be VP and they knew it. If this is remotely accurate then “Country First” was just words.
The most interesting tidbit is that Randy Scheunemann, neo-con extraordinaire, was fired for leaking information on the tension. Seems that he was trying to protect Palin. Randy may have been smitten.
Update: According to Fox News, Barack Obama’s September rise in the polls started after the Katie Couric Charlie Gibson interview with Palin and not 4 days later with the start of the economic crisis. Wow!
Update 2: Cameron on O’Reilly giving a similar story, but a bit more detail. She didn’t know that Africa was a continent and not a country. Surreal.
This is political malpractice. If Steve Schmidt was responsible for the pick I can’t imagine why anyone would hire him again.
